Qt Design Studio and Qt Creator

Design and deploy compelling user interfaces for desktop, mobile, web, and embedded platforms

Highlights

  • Design and creation of beautiful 2D/3D UI/UX and HMI
  • Import of Photoshop,Sketch, Figma, 3ds Max, Maya graphics design assets, and setup of text, graphics, triggers, and animations
  • Generation of QML and C++ code that can be customized to implement back-end logic and compiled to binary
  • Ready-to-use debugging, profiling and monitoring tools
  • Painless production workflow due to the QML descriptive language
  • Integration with Simulink and Stateflow through the Qt Blockset for Simulink

Description

Qt Design Studio is a 2D/3D design tool that enables designers to build UI/UX (user interfaces and user experiences) and HMI (human machine interfaces). Designers can import Photoshop, Sketch, Figma, 3ds Max,and Maya graphics design assets, setup texts, graphics, triggers, and animations to create the view part of their interfaces. They can visualize their designs in real-time on desktop, mobile, web and embedded targets and export them to programmers who can implement complex back-end logic.

Qt Creator is an IDE (integrated development environment) for programmers. Developers can retrieve the UI/UX designs directly from HMI designers who use Qt Design Studio with the QML feature, in order to implement the back-end logic of the UI/UX. Qt Creator integrates all the required tools to debug, monitor, and profile a software application for all supported targets (desktop, mobile, web and embedded targets).

Typical Qt customers are designers and developers of UI/UX and HMI, working in industries including automotive, medical, industrial/automation, and IoT/consumer devices.

The integration allows developers to cosimulate their graphical HMI designs in Qt Design Studio or Qt Creator with models of underlying logic in Simulink® and Stateflow®.  Qt provides the Qt Blockset for Simulink, which allows users to add blocks to their Simulink model that interact with Signals & Property values from the Qt application. Qt Design Studio also includes a Simulink Connector feature, enabling users to easily add the connectivity from the Qt application. Qt also provides a Simulink plugin for Qt Creator, which allows developers writing C++ applications the same ability to cosimulate with Simulink.

Together, this enables developers to model, simulate, and validate entire HMI designs, actively debugging their HMI by leveraging Simulink and Stateflow. They can also run automated test cases from Simulink to test the HMI designs.

For more information on the integration, refer to this video Modeling and Simulating the HMI Logic of Medical Devices of an example medical application.

You can download the Qt Blockset for Simulink and related plugins on GitLab.
