Platooning Systems

Design and test vehicle platooning system

In automated driving applications, platooning refers to the coordinated travel by two or more vehicles along the same trajectory with a short distance between each other. Vehicle platooning is an important application that improves traffic flow, safety, and fuel consumption.

Using Automated Driving Toolbox™, you can model vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communication, tractor-trailer dynamics, longitudinal controller, and lateral controller components and integrate them to build a truck platooning system. These examples show you how to develop a truck platooning system and test it using different scenarios configured on straight road as well as highly curved road. You can cosimulate a platooning system, designed in Simulink®, with RoadRunner Scenario or Unreal Engine®.
