Why does the co-simulation time decrease drastically if the ModelSim time resolution is changed from 1ns to 10ns in Link for ModelSim?

I am doing a co-simulation with ModelSim and Simulink. If I change the ModelSim time resolution from 1ns to 10ns, it causes a massive slowdown in performance. The simulator appears hung, although it will eventually complete.

This bug has been fixed for Release 14 SP1 (R14SP1). For previous releases, please read below for any possible workarounds:

We have verified that there is a bug in Link for ModelSim 1.1.1 (R14) when the ModelSim resolution setting is 10ns or 100ns. To work around this issue, use 1ns for the resolution setting.
