How to Channel Layout in a VST plugin

Hello all :)

I'm using loadAudioPlugin function to load an external plugin and do some tests with it; however I havent been able to figure out if there is a way to change the channel layout of the plugin. Basically, it loads as a stereo plugin but I'd like to load it as a mono plugin since its behavior changes slightly depending on the channel configuration. Is there a way to do this?
