How to fetch data from a MATLAB data file using VBA in Excel?

Hello!

I am working on project that requires to pull column data from five *.mat MATLAB datafiles. These files are stored on local network.

Interim calculations need to be done on the column data, and Output needs to be populated in MS Excel.

It will be a daily update process therefore, needs an automated update functionality. I beleive this can be done using VBA but, I need help on how to fetch data from MATLAB files.

Can you please suggest how to approach this problem?
