What does Signal Conversion block do exactly?

Hi all,

I found the example and I didn't get any idea what Signal Conversion block does exactly in this example and why it is needed.

The above example is from here : https://www.mathworks.com/help/simulink/slref/convert-muxed-signal-to-vector.html

I had removed the signal conversion block and I built the model into a code.

But I couldn't find any difference in code level with the example.

What does Signal Conversion block do exactly in this example?
