After Toolbox installation, Matlab does not run.

A while ago I installed the student version of Matlab, and I recently decided to purchase the curvefit toolbox. Installation was straightforward, but after installing the toolbox when I try and run Matlab I get the following error:

Cannot locate com/mathworks/jmi/OpaqueJavaInterface class

At which point clicking OK stops everything.

Any ideas? I've tried re-installing both Matlab and the toolbox (and updating Java), but no change. Mathworks has a help page for this specific error, but It doesn't seem to help.
