How to sort or classify attached figures

In the attached figure, there are 110 figures derived from several algae. It seems quite easy to sort this out by eye. What method is recommended to do this automatically by using only the 'basic' Matlab, thus without having additional toolboxes? Each image is built up from five signals (signal height as a function of length of a particle). At the right the real images of the algae.
