Problem with importdata in Ubuntu

Hello,

I need to import data from a txt file. It is a quite large file (30 variables with each 49836 values). When I do this using the windows version of matlab (R2008b) there is no problem. When I use the Ubuntu version (R2012a) of matlab all variables are imported but not all values. For example for variable 1 34887 values and for variable 2 28478 values, ... However in the txt file all variables have the same amount of values. Does anyone know what the problem is?
