What does the 'metric' parameter means in imfindcircles?

Dear all,
One of the output for the IMFINDCIRCLES function is 'metric'. I want to know what it means exaclty. What does it means that metric is the "magnitude of the accumulator array peaks for each circle"?
Is it related to probability of finind a circle in the image?

It means how ‘round’ the objects are.
See Step 5: Determine which Objects are Round for a more complete description.
