How to calculate compound interest?

We borrowed $1000 money with an annual interest 10%. If we do not pay any penalty in 2 years then how much we owe the money? Answer must be assign in a variable called debt .

Can you show the code that you tried? Where did you struck?
It would good to place a MATLAB code question, rather than directly formula problems.
