Why isn't my app pushbutton able to update an edit field ?

Hi all

I am still trying to solve this problem. I have a push button in my app that has become complex now , and through that, I can not update the values in other edit fields. while when I use other push buttons that are less crowded and more simple, they can update those edit fields. I put the structure of the complex button here, hoping to fin the root cause :

farzad - without showing all of the code, it is difficult to guess why those last two lines are not being called. When you run the app, do you see any error messages in the log file? If so, what are they? Does your code exit early? Does the waitbar appear? Consider using the MATLAB Debugger to step through this code to see what is happening.

there is no need to guess. I put the structure of the code here. sometimes it's not possible to share the code. I have done the debug. the code does not exit early and there are no errors and also the app values I expect are actually not empty. they are created but can not update the corresponding field in the app. that's the problem.

while this goes with no problem when I put these commands under another pushbutton that does not have this structure. and yes the waitbar appears

app.AnalysisTimeEditfield= char(duration(0,0,te))

is this a valid assignment? Isn't AnalysisTimeEditfield a control in your app and now you are assigning a string to it? Shouldn't the code be

app.AnalysisTimeEditfield.Value = char(duration(0,0,te))

?

Sorry, it was only a mistake in this question. I had payed good attention to this and it is written exactly with the right syntax as you wrote :

app.AnalysisTimeEditfield.Value = char(duration(0,0,te))

I would put a breakpoint at this line of code and run your app. When (or if?) the debugger stops at this line check to make sure that

char(duration(0,0,te))

returns a valid string and pay careful attention to the command window to ensure that no errors appear. It is unclear to me why these two lines are not working as expected...

I am kind of sure the structure of my code does not allow the variables generated inside it be communicated to other edit fields and generally inside my application.

because if I just create an empty pushbutton and try to create a tic toc and print it on an edit field, it is done without a problem.

also for the other case, working directory. I created another button and it's working fine. only this structure is preventing something

well why would the structure of this code be different from the other methods? Is this method part of the app or external to it? Is all of this code within the callback of a pushbutton (of your app)?

Without presenting all of your code or providing a working example that demonstrates this behaviour, how can we know exactly why this structure is behaving differently? How about you try removing all of the code from this callback function except for something like

app.AnalysisTimeEditfield.Value= 'hello'
app.WorkingDirectoryEditField.Value=pwd;

What happens?
