putting tick marks on a graph/trajectory

I have a set of coordinates that plots the trajectory of a moving body from point A to point B. Now I want to put some 'time information' on how the movements come about by putting 'tick marks' every 2 seconds on the graph itself (not just on the axes of the coordinate systems).

Any suggestions on how to do this?
