I currently have licenses for Simscape, Matlab and Coder for both (License #40592156). Do I need to buy another license for Simscape Multibody? Or is it already included in my purchased licenses? Thanks.

Simscape Multibody is a separate toolbox other than Simscape. You can run "ver" in Command Window to see if you have "Simscape Multibody" installed.

Hi,
ver will only tell me if a particular add on is currently installed with my matlab version. Similarly, license only tells me what my license number is. I need to know if I have a current license for Simscape Multibody, or any other add on for that matter. What is the methob for determining whether or not you have an add on license, short of running a project and having it succeed or crash? Thanks.
Jim
If Simscape Multibody was not even installed, I would say likely you didn't purchase the software thus no software, no license. You can log in your Mathworks account, register you license number and check what products are included.
Hi,
Software has been installed by a previous user (whose job I'm taking over), so I can see it when I do the ver command. However, when I go to use it I do get the error "Unable to check out a Simscape Multibody First Generation license. Check installation and license." So, I've no way of knowing if it's a bad installation or a license issue.
In your response, you noted I could log into my Mathworks account and check which products are included with my license. How do I do that? I assume that the license is already registered since I obtained it from my Matlab administrator. Thanks again.
Jim
You need to check your license file. It might be a local license file, or pointing to a license server, in which case, you might not be able to check out a license due to many reasons.
You can create your own Mathworks account, go to My Account, Link License, ...
Or the easiest thing is to call Mathworks, provide your license number.
Hi,
You can find the local license file by bringing up Matlab and searching in your C:\Users\<user_name> folder for *.lic file. Open the file and search on "product =". This will tell you which products you are licensed for.
Network license files are typically stored in the
C:\apps\MATLAB\<Matlab version>\licenses folder. If you haven't used the default install path, you can susbstitue <your path> for C:\apps\MATLAB\
As you've noted above, you can't view the products on a network license and will have to call your Matlab administrator or Mathworks. Logging into your Mathworks account and going to My Account, Link License only provides a list of license numbers that are linked to your account, not any details about what products are activated under them.
Thanks for helping me find the answer to my question though. I never thought to look in the *.lic file as I assumed that it would be encoded or a binary.

Hi,
One quick correction to my above comment. If you log into your Matworks account, under My Software, all of your licenses will be listed. If you click on a license number (under License), you'll be taken to a new page. Look under Product to see all products and add ons for that license number.
