error when installing matlab to personal server

I follow this very short guide https://medium.com/@ananyaagrawal125/install-matlab-on-ubuntu-18-04-b4403b489b4d

once i get to the install part i type sudo ./install and get error

"

terminate called after throwing an instance of '(anonymous namespace)::DisplayError'

what(): No display available.

Aborted

and now if i just type in ./install instead of sudo ./install I get the same error

It is not letting me run the install file on the server. Any tips? its R2020a
