Emergency Siren Detector ??????

I am doing a project in Emegency Siren Detector in vehicles. I know MATLAB is the best form of using Digital Signal Processing,. There isn't hardly any resources online that covers this kind of project, in sound detection. Would greatly appreciate if anyone can share their resources in the similar field that will help me achieve this project. Thanks
