need help on using segmented pipe

Hi,
I am using simulink to do hydraulic loss analysis in pipe. I used resistive pipe approch and got the results matching to the problems. I tried using segmented pipe for same case and results vary drastically. Can any one explain concept behind segmented pipe please...
