Matlab GUI and MicroManager thread problem

Hi,

I've built a GUI in matlab (using GUIDE) to interact with MicroManager. I'm having a problem getting the micromanager GUI to refresh, and from discussions in the micromanager forum it seems to be related to the fact micromanager uses EDT (Event Dispatch Thread). I am not so familiar with using threads (in matlab, and in general). Is there a way to make matlab GUI run on a different thread? or somehow not to interfere with EDT?
