Matlab GUI and Arduino code running together ?

Hello.

I am wondering something about the way I can control motors via an Arduino.

I wrote a code where I send PWM signal to a port, in order to control a BL motor (via its ESC).

I was wondering if it was possible, at the same time, that the Arduino reads analog values from a sensor and sends it back to Matlab ?

Basically, can Matlab control an Arduino while the Arduino has its own code running at the same time, measuring values ?

The thing is, in those videos, only Matlab is used. I was wondering if it was possible to use Matlab while a code is running on the Arduino (via the Arduino IDE) .
