How can I store the answer from each level of a recursion?

for example to calcluate x^10 in a recursion i also want to store the values of x^5 and x^2 which are calculated first

A simple for-loop can achieve the desired result,

p=10; 
x=45; 
matP=zeros(p,1);

temp=1;

for i=1:p
    temp=temp*x;
    matP(i)=temp;
end
