Transferring a MATLAB licence to a different computer

I have just taken up a position at a new company. The previous incumbent in the position had a MATLAB licence paid for by the company. I need to transfer this licence to my computer. He has his own Matlab user name (account) and I have my own. Will the deactivation and activation process work across usernames and accounts - when I deactivate it on his, how do I reactivate it on my machine with my username.

The License Administrator can add you as a user of the license.

If the person was the License Administrator, then you can log in to their account and add yourself as an additional administrator (or as the new administrator), after which you can add yourself as a user of the license. Then deactivate the license against the previous machine, activate it against your new machine.
