How to create neural network for sign language recognition?

Hi! I am doing a final year project on sign language recognition. It will be communication system for deaf and dumb. I want to do this using neural network but i am new to MATLAB and Neural Networks.I need some help regarding this:
  • How to create the dataset for neural network? (Does it need to be in the form of binary images?
  • How to train the network?
  • What is the "input", "Targets" and samples in nntoolbox?
  • Do I have to write any logical code for the recognition of signs?
  • What is feature vector and how to create it?Thanks
