Image segmentation based on superpixels and merging them

Hello, I'm trying to find a good implementation of image segmentation for matlab. Something like in this article: http://www.kpubs.org/article/articleMain.kpubs?articleANo=E1KOBZ_2014_v8n7_2400 It is for my thesis and I will provide author a proper credit in citation. Thanks in advance

Did you try the superpixels() function already in MATLAB?

Yes, I did. And it would be perfect if I can use some merging method on that result. Because right now it's far from perfect.

So I guess the merging algorithm in the paper doesn't work too well? Well good thing we have you working on your Ph.D. to correct that shortcoming.

I'm working on my master degree, Ph.D. out of my reach for now :). I was not able to replicate their work, that is why I'm trying to find working library for segmentation or implementation in matlab which could give me similar results.

Jozef, did you manage to merge the segmentation? I am having this problem right now and don't know how to solve it. I need to choose which label I want from Superpixel segmentation. How did you overcome your problem? Thanks.
