Good guide to generating an image, and making a video with the generated images?

Hello, so I want to generate a video in MATLAB, using images made in MATLAB. Are there any good guides for doing so? And what toolboxes do I need?
I basically want to make an ethereal circle, and have it grow and shrink while changing colors. Maybe have it giving off some fog like effect, that is wind swept to the left or right.
