Thresholding and artifact removal

I would like to ask if its possible to add colours to thresholded regions of the image. And also, how do I remove artifacts present on an image?

Attached is the workflow I'm trying to follow and I've already globally thresholded and inverted as needed but I do not know how to proceed from there.
