Serializing UART data with LVDC

I have an application where 8 sensors are connected to a real-time machine with xPC Target.

My main problem is that the sensors would be on a moving station, therefore I want to reduce the number of cables between the xPC machine and the sensors. I thought of using LVDC to serialize the streams of data (~30 Kbps) from each sensor and de-serialize it back, close to the xPC.

Has anyone used LVDC to serialize TTL UART signals before? Are there other solutions?

Wouldn't that require modulating the LVDC to transmit the data? That would seem contrary to the principles of LVDC, to supply constant energy, with changes in the DC presenting significant challenges to the design ?
