What is the best way to read data using three different sockets in a simulink model?

The sockets receive data from external applications. The sockets are C code within S-Functions.
Simulink is single threaded so blocking sockets are not effective. Using select() for non-blocking sockets is slow.
Are there any matlab/simulink toolboxes available for something like this?
