I can open matlab through vncviewer remotely but segmentation fault otherwise! In Matlab 2016a/2017a. Works in matlab2015b

So I've been using Matlab through vnc_viewer as I was away from work. Now I am trying to use it at the office using the Monitor connected to the machine but I get the segmentation fault right after I open Matlab so I have no way to use the matlab command window to troubleshoot. Everything seems to work ok with matlab2015b. Any help??
