Error while reading dat file

 Hi , i am gettign an error while reading dat file.

i used the following command load('EGR.dat')

i am getting ??? Error using ==> load Number of columns on line 1 of ASCII file D:\Rakesh\EGR.dat must be the same as previous lines.

help me in this.

load assumes an ASCII file with the same number of elements in each line, if read a file without a '.mat' file extension and if the '-MAT' option is not set. See help load.

What is the format of your EGR.dat file?
