Windows 10 and Matlab R2007a

I have not used matlab since undergraduate school. Recently i started graduate school and am trying to install matlab on my new windows 10 pc. I am unable to make it through the instalation. Is there a way to get it to work? Is there a way to update my matlab version without having to purchase the software?

Matlab R2007b runs on Windows 10 in Vindows Vista compatibility mode.

One can only get free upgrades if one keeps a maintenance license.

A student license is very inexpensive.
