Missing codecs for avi files

When I export a compressed animation from SimMechanics, the resulting AVI file works with Windows Media Player unless I copy it to a network drive to share with others. It that case I get the error message: "Windows Media Player cannot play the file. One or more codecs required to play the file could not be found." NOTE: The avi file plays with realPlayer, no problem.
