read mouse buttons without locking the code

I need to present diffent images while monitoring mouse actions.

The ginput function seem adequate for me, however, it is not possible to execute other commands while ginput is turned on. Is it possible to run these actions in parallel?

Another posibility could be to alternate rapidly between graphic functions and ginput, but it would be necessary to turn ginput off after a time period...

does anyone have a suggestion?

Use the currentpoint property of an axes or figure instead of ginput. ginput is just a fancy wrapper around this anyway.
