How to use datenum on hourly data

I have a csv file with the first column containing the year, 2nd month, 3rd day and 4th hour. I tried to convert it to serial date number using datenum but it didn't work as I didn't have the minutes and seconds data. Is there a way around this?

You could add columns of zeros to represent minute and seconds.
