colour image segmentation - in real time ?

hi friends, am very new to this area, i need to do a project on colour image segmentation, tat is a real time video processing of colored object say as ball., need to find the color of the ball.,can any one plz help me in this regards ?

I assume the ball is moving? So the first step is to find the ball. You might be able to do that fairly quickly by looking at what is different from one frame to the next. Then just use regionprops to get the mean intensity of the red, green, and blue channels to find the mean color of the ball. Note that finding the color of the ball is different than color segmentation which aims to find all pixels in the image that have certain colors, for example red.
