Removing water drops on leaf

I want to remove the water drops in this image. I am new to image processing and matlab and would be glad if i could get help!

I would suggest as follows: Get the locations of drops, make them NaN. Treat these NaN's as missing values and fill them. You can use the following function for filling. http://www.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/fileexchange/27994-inpaint-over-missing-data-in-1-d--2-d--3-d--n-d-arrays
