I am working on the simulation of a Solid State Transformer.It has three modules- the PWM rectifier, the Dual Active Bridge Converter and the Inverter.The modules work well individually but the input current gets distorted with the whole system.Why??

When I am synchronising the PWM Rectifier with the Dual Active Bridge Converter and the Inverter, the current becomes highly distorted. However, the output current and voltage as well as the intermediate stage voltages are perfect as per my design. I have tried several PWM techniques- the abc-dq-abc transform technique, the Direct Power Control technique. However every time it is the input current which gets distorted.

Dear Partha Sarthy, As per my knowledge, your input current is distorting because that you are using very high frequency transformer. Since due to very high switching frequency, the energy residues in the transformer winding, and so a huge current start flowing which means simply shorted. You need to design a good series inductor for your dual active bridge, so that during switching, the energy transfers from transformers to inductor and ZVS phenomeno occur.

Solid-state transformer (3PN2520B), also known as power electronic transformer, is a combination of power electronic conversion technology and high-frequency power conversion technology based on the principle of electromagnetic induction, to achieve the transformation of electrical energy Stationary electrical equipment. Compared with conventional transformers, EPT has many advantages, and its outstanding feature is that it can achieve flexible control of primary current, secondary voltage, and power. The application of EPT to power systems will improve power quality, system stability, flexible transmission methods, and real-time control of power flows in the power market. At present, SST is used in the field of new energy intelligent microgrids. In the traditional power grid, it is mainly used to solve the voltage disturbance problem of the distribution network.
