I cannot open the application “InstallForMacOSX.app” because PowerPC applications are no longer supported.

I followed the instructions given by the school tech centre to download Matlab R2015b Mac version to hopefully use it on my Macbook running El Capitan (10.11.4). There is a Mac version on the platform that is supposed to support Mac 64-bit (OS X 10.9.5, 10.10, 10.11). I extracted the .iso image and double-clicked the InstallForMacOSX.app, and an error message appears and says 'You can’t open the application “InstallForMacOSX.app” because PowerPC applications are no longer supported.' What should I do to fix the issue?
