Matlab online vs Matlab

I received an e-mail where Matlab announces the release of Matlab Online. Does this mean that Matlab is discontinueing the original Matlab? Or is Matlab online a choice that users can choose whether to use it or not?

If you have a Matlab licence, you can use Matlab online. Matlab online doesn't replace your Matlab software
