Search files in a GUI based on a list and also user input

I am designing a GUI which can be used to see all the scripts that exist in a specific folder. There is a Category Select listbox which selects what particular category of files have to be searched for, along with a Search box, where the user can input a search term. So the Category select and the Search box both filter the names and another list box, ie. Search Results should display the filtered results.

Is there an easy way to do this or is this going to be complicated ? I don't want a ready-made code, just some help on how to go about with this because I have not worked with GUIs before.
