Is there any way to print strings to the command window in different colours using fprintf?

I've read about cprintf and using fprintf to print to stderr, but I'm a little confused by these methods. What is the simplest and easiest way to print strings to the command window in colours of my choice?

The file exchange contribution cprintf() is the easiest way to print with your choice of colors in the command window.
