setting variables in java objects from matlab

If I set a variable in a Java object will the variable be available to be called by another Java object?

example,

x_matlab = 10
a.b.SetVariable(x_matlab); % sets the java member variable x_java to   x_matlab 

output = c.d.GetVariable(x_java); %gets the value of x_java.
