how to update a text in a gui inside other gui

I have a main gui prog.m and I want to prepare another gui let say prgr.m to report the progress at each step i defined a static text in prgr and named it progtxt and then I used the following code prgr() handles.prgr = findobj(0,'Type','figure','senstxt','test'); guidata(hObject,handles) but it's doing nothing how can I update the content of the static text
