each .png image contains single character so i have uploaded five images(its look like it is a single image but its not)....
all the images are handwritten,in binary format and have same resolution(40x70)....
there are some cuts in some characters...
How to recognize these characters or what is the easiest way to do it?....i will appreciate if someone help me with the code as i am new to MATLAB

OCR is in the Computer Vision System Toolbox http://www.mathworks.com/help/vision/ref/ocr.html#bt548t1-2_1
Of course the accuracy depends on how corrupted and poor the character appears.

You might have to look at other letters and figure out the context. Maybe even use a spell checker. You'll have the same problem with determining if a tall stick figure is an l (lower case L), a 1 (number), or an I (upper case i). Basically they all look about the same, especially with poor quality images like you're stuck with.
