I'm guessing it came from the File Exchange. Is this boxcount function what you are looking for?

I am trying to calculate the fractal dimesion of a picture by using box-counting method. Can you have me with this? Thank you

That function does calculate fractal dimension, so I suspect it is what you want. You need
  • Click "Download Zip" on that page
  • Unzip the resulting file
  • Put the functions somewhere in your MATLAB path

I have downloaded and examine the code. However, I received an error message" Unfinded command/function 'boxcount' from matlab
You need to put the file boxcount.m in a directory that is in the MATLAB path. You can see which directories are in your path by typing
path
at the command line.
The easiest thing is to put the file in your current directory.
Use pathtool to add the directory to your current path rather than putting it in your current directory.

I already did that step but still got error undefined boxcount
If you are using a sufficiently new version of MATLAB, then use the Add-On Explorer to add the boxcount contribution.
