Dear All,
Two days ago, my computer suddenly lost the electricity and Matlab was terminated when the electricity was gone. After that, I turned on my computer and started Matlab, I found Matlab could not start properly.
1) There is no >> in the commend window,
2) and it is always keeping initializing.
3) I path is not the path I usually worked on. The path is C:\Users\snow\OneDrive - Tarrant County College District\Documents\MATLAB. But my working path is G:\My_Dell_PC_Since_April_2025\Disk_E\NDSE_2020\Version26_Oncor_Test. I cannot select my woring path.
I tried to uninstall and install several times, but I still have the above problem.
Would Mathworks help me to fix this problem?
Thanks a lot.
Benson

Since it sounds like an installation problem, I think they would. Did you ask them?

I would suggest moving aside the preferences directory.

I understand you are facing issue with MATLAB UI and interface.
The issue you are experiencing is likely due to corrupted MATLAB configuration files or startup paths, which can happen when MATLAB is not closed properly, such as during a sudden shutdown. This is a common issue when MATLAB does not close gracefully.
To fix it, it's important to know that MATLAB stores user-specific settings in a folder called "prefdir". If the contents of this folder become corrupted, it can prevent MATLAB from starting correctly. Here is how you can reset these settings:
  • Try to manually delete the preferences folder: You can move to the following directory and clear or delete the folders matching your MATLAB version: "%APPDATA%\MathWorks\MATLAB". This resets MATLAB preferences, more like a factory reset, but without affecting your code or toolboxes.
  • You can try clearing MATLAB's cache folder: You can open the following path and clear the cache.
%LOCALAPPDATA%\MathWorks\MATLAB
  • Run MATLAB in safe mode to isolate the issue. You can try running matlab in safe mode using the following command on your command prompt:
matlab -safe
Hope it helps!
