Why am I getting an "Invalid MEX-file ... undefined symbol MWTIFFRegi​sterFuncti​onPointers​" error when trying to print figures as TIFF or PDF files in Linux?

I am trying to generate a report on Simulink Test in my Linux machine. To help with this I have generated a simple figure and tried to print the figure to an image in both PDF and TIFF formats, however, when I do this, I get the below error:

Invalid MEX-file ... undefined symbol MWTIFFRegisterFunctionPointers

How do I stop this from happening?

This is due to a corrupted installation. To resolve this issue, uninstall and reinstall MATLAB as shown here:
