Why are my pulldown menus in the editor and live editor in Chinese and how do i change that on a Mac?

The menus in other panes all in English. But, in the Editir and Live Editor windows I get:

I've looked in settings and googled a bit but turn up nothing?

I've tried removing Chinese Simplified in my System Settings, doesn't seem to help. The removal doesn't complete when I select the minus sign, the Chinese Simplified language remains. Maybe I need provileged access, but there is no padlock present and I am an admin on this device.

Also, in the article, I see an instruction to restart. Is that for MatLAB or the system? I restarted MatLAB after changing Language and Region for internet in Settings, no go.

Do I need to reboot my laptop?

I'm on Sonoma 14.2.1 / M2.

Hi Bob,

Chinese text appearing in parts of the UI on MATLAB R2023b on the Sonoma 14.x machine is a known bug, as highlighted in the following MATLAB answer by the MathWorks Support Team:

Upgrading to Update 6 has remedied the issue.

Please note that navigating to MatLAB -> Help -> Check for Updates produced a popup stating an update was available. I clicked the Install Update button and nothing happened. What worked was deleting the current installation from /Applications and doing a fresh download/install from the MathWorks site.
