Several years ago, I remember emacs commands were available for matlab. I haven't used matlab since then so don't know if that was some functionality that was lost or removed during some software upgrades. I use emacs for almost everything else and have built the muscle memory for commands and would like to avoid relearning shortcuts. Is this possible with the current version?
I am using the linux release and the preferences > keyboard section looks like this

Which OS do you use? If you are using Windows, you can change your Keyboard Shortcut settings to Emacs in the MATLAB Preferences.
You also can download keyboard shortcut settings files from File Exchange. For example, to restore the MATLAB default keyboard shortcuts that were in place for MATLAB Version 7.9 (R2009a) and earlier releases, go to File Exchange and search for MATLAB Desktop R2009a Default Keyboard Shortcut sets. Download and extract the set and then select it as the active settings file. A valid keyboard shortcut settings file appears with a keyboard key icon .
Further informations can be found in the official doc below.

Are there any plans to include Keyboard shorcuts with the new desktop UI? This is what stops me from using the new desktop, I need to be able to switch between editor and command window using keyboard shortcuts rather than reaching for the mouse.
