App Designer duplicates a component many times at start up

After replacing an Edit Field (numeric) with an Spinner in the app panel, the label (app.MCQThresholdLabel) of the Edit Field remained and now replicates more than 10 times during startup. After deleting the label and its clones and saving the file, the next time the .mlapp is opened, App Designer increases the number of the clones to 20 or more and so on. All of the clones show up with the same name under Component Browser. I have deleted averything is related to the component but the problem persists. Is there a way to solve this problem?
