I would like to model an electric generator using the Powertrain Blockset without using Simscape. The input to the generator would be speed (rpm) and the output sould be the generated voltage. Would it be possible to use the "Mapped Motor" for this? If so, what are the modifications?
Thank you.

Hi Chandana,
It is my understanding that you are working on electric generator and wants to know whether ‘Mapped Motor’ could be used for implementing electric generator.
‘Mapped Motor’ block implements a mapped motor and drive electronics operating in torque-control mode. The output torque tracks the torque reference demand and includes a motor-response and drive-response time constant. So, it is not possible to implement it as electric generator.
Refer the below documentation to get more information regarding mapped motor.
‘DC Machine’ block can be used to implement electrical generator.
For more information regarding, DC Machine refer the below documentation

Hello Ganapathi,
Thank you very much for your response. Is there a way to do it without using Simscape?
Thank you,

Hello Chandana,
All the electrical blocks in Simulink comes under Simscape. So, Simscape is essential in building an electric generator. There are no other ways to build an electrical system without Simscape.
